international Statements/Conclusion:
Euro-uRapid2006

Other Statements:
Euro-uRapid2007

Physician, scientist, and Rapid user:

Prof. Dr. Hans–Florian Zeilhofer

University hospital Basel, Switzerland

Portrait: Prof. Dr. Hans–Florian Zeilhofer If the uRapid did not exist, one would have to invent it. The most valuable outcome for me was the multidisciplinary exchange of ideas among professionals and users from different fields such as engineering, industry and also my profession: medicine. Competent partners attended the conference: users, university members, engineers as well as developers from the industrial branch. Consequently, we experienced networking and cooperation at a very high stage.

A second point is that the uRapid has helped us to communicate new research initiatives, which are of fundamental importance for the European Union and the European market. At Euro-uRapid we were able to establish new contacts and cooperations - essential for the formulation, promotion and implementation of new research initiatives at the European level.

Research manager:

Anton Gerrits

TNO Science and Industry, The Netherlands

Portrait: Anton Gerrits It is very important to be here. I think we should continue with our concept of the uRapid, because the structure is good and it has definitively potential.

It is all about networking and here we find the right people and companies for it. In order to strengthen Europe we need to work together.

Automotive engineer:

Dr. Jialin Shen

DaimlerChrysler, Germany

Portrait: Dr. Jialin Shen It was very interesting, but it could be noted that the worldwide offerings of technological advances — especially that concerning direct Rapid Manufacturing – is still limited. This is the point where we have to increase our efforts.

Artist and designer:

Prof. Eberhard Fiebig

art engineering, Germany

Portrait: Prof. Eberhard Fiebig First of all we need to agree on the direction we are taking at the moment. I was actually wondering about the focus of the conference, which mainly lay on the automobile and the aerospace industry. Rapid Prototyping is in fact a wonderful tool for designers and artists, yet not many are present at this conference. That is probably due to the fact, that Rapid Prototyping is still too expensive for designers. The industry has the highest interest in this technology at the moment and thus the highest benefits from it. It is really advisable to approach more designer organisations and to make this process known to them. Most of them are simply not familiar with it.

Rapid service provider:

Harald Nitz

AWB TopTooling GmbH & Co. KG, Germany

Portrait: Harald Nitz We presented our new technology at the Euro-uRapid and had the opportunity to talk to an international audience. Dr. Meyer offered an appropriate platform for it. The entire setting of the conference was very pleasant. The simultaneous interpretation was useful and the lectures and presentations were well chosen. I am very impressed by this conference.

By attending the Euro-uRapid, as an exhibitor for a new technology for Direct Rapid Manufacturing, we were able to establish contacts with valuable national and international partners. The cooperation with the Fraunhofer Alliance for Rapid Prototyping has helped us, a start-up enterprise, to get in touch with the international business and industry. Thereby it was possible to promote the technique to branches with form and surface-related products. Completely new design possibilities will enable them now to protect and extend their markets. We really did not expect to find such a great approval.

Global player and OEM user:

Martin Schäfer

Siemens AG, Germany

What I particularly liked was the international audience at the uRapid. We had participants from America, India, the whole of Europe ... Furthermore positively to mention is the fact that there was given wide room for discussions.

Rapid system provider:

Jochen Dauber

Kisters AG, Germany

Portrait: Jochen Dauber Again this year, the Euro-uRapid has presented itself as a professional forum for different applications, research and developments in the field of Rapid Prototyping. Our model exhibition of the Contex-3D printer, the presentation of coloured 3D printers and the displayed zScanner 700 found the general approval of the participants. Altogether it was a great international platform with up-to-date news to Rapid Prototyping.

Rapid investigator:

K.P. Karunakaran

Indian Institute of Technology, India

Portrait: K.P. Karunakaran The conference gave a good overview of the newest Rapid technologies and applications. In Europe companies and research institutes probably work together most intensively to optimally use the Rapid technologies. I think this is very interesting.

User of applications in aerospace:

Jeff DeGrange

BOEING, USA

Portrait: Jeff DeGrange I think it has been a very broad coverage of the technology field in general and the in depth aspects of Rapid Manufacturing as some of the material systems and some of the business cases. It has been a holistic discussion in last day and a half.

Rapid teacher and investigator:

Hashem Ghariblu

Zanjan University, Iran

It is a good conference for a learning vacation in Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Manufacturing. I have participated in intensive exchanges of experience to modern Rapid technologies. As a consequence, I was assured that these high-technological applications have to be made known more intensely in potential application sectors as well as in the general population. Because soon these applications will change our lives increasingly.

Expert for Micro Rapid:

Andrea Reinhardt

microTEC, Germany

Portrait: Andrea Reinhardt I evaluate the Euro-uRapid2006 from the point of view of microTEC. We have been doing Rapid Manufacturing Technologies for 10 years for micro Systems and micro products. It was a great conference and I learn a lot about the big world and the advances of macro Rapid.
